The very first Burslem Fringe kicks off with two of the country’s most highly respected and accomplished singer songwriters - Mike Silver and Johnny Coppin.
Back in the early 70’s Mike Silver signed to Elton John's Rocket Records, and over the past 30 years he has produced an impressive body of work. Considered a musician’s musician Mike has been championed by Terry Wogan, Bob Harris and Mike Harding amongst others, with his song Not a Matter of Pride securing him significant TV and radio exposure and the press reviews have always been strong - “Silver's song writing displaying a sharpness of delivery and deftness of touch reminiscent of Richard Thompson” Danny Moore.
Johnny Coppin is of the same stable as Mike, a consummate professional with a long and varied career, its beginnings with the folk-rock band Decameron and notably his collaborations with the poet and writer Laurie Lee. Mike and Johnny first toured together in 2005 to critical acclaim and released their first joint album in Breaking the Silence in 2007.
Their live show is an exceptional presentation of affecting and subtle songs mixed with sparkling musical dexterity, its not to be missed.
