Elvis Fontenot and the Sugarbees
Formed in the dim and distant past of 1993, in Stoke-on-Trent, Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees have evolved through many line-ups changes to become the premier European swamp’n’roll outfit that they are today. The line up of Nick Barber (Accordion/Vocals/Frottoir/Mandocaster) Paul Asher (Accordion/Fiddle/Mandolin/Bass) Phil Butler (Rhythm guitar), Craig Beverley (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Stuart Duthie (Bass/Harmonica/Vocals) and Chris Plimbley (Drums) returned to play in Louisiana and Texas in 2007, after previously playing at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans in 2003 and 2005. In 2006, they were crowned “European Zydeco band of the Year” at the Raamsdonksveer International Cajun & Zydeco Festival in Holland. They’ve also been played on the BBC by Andy Kershaw and Mike Harding and have been on TV in Austin, Texas and featured on radio stations across America and also in Australia. This year they’re also lined up to play the prestigious Kilkenny Roots & Rhythm Festival in Ireland.

Loud-Mouth Women, the outstanding acapella vocal group, have helped celebrate Women's Day and the launch of the Women's Mental Health Standards, today Founded over seven years ago, the all-female singing group was at County Buildings, Stafford. The group are noted for their varied repertoire, uplifting harmonies and unique arrangements of songs from countries as far afield as Eastern Europe, the West Indies and New Zealand. Director of the Staffordshire Adult Mental Health Partnership, Lesley Gerhardt said: "Choosing to launch the Women's Mental Health Standards with a Loud-Mouth Women is very significant. It's about celebrating women but it's also about marking an historic shift away from the current lack of attention given to women's mental health needs."

The Women's Mental Health Standards have been developed on a multi agency basis to improve service provision in Staffordshire. This has been achieved by assessing women's experience of hospitals, doctors' surgeries, social work and even voluntary sector services.
Lesley continued: "The aim of the Women's Mental Health Standards is to ensure that every woman in Staffordshire that seeks help and support for any mental health problem, wherever they go, is given the care and treatment that takes account of their individual needs.
"Between us, we are not only allowing women to reach their 'mentally healthy' potential at the earliest opportunity but are also giving them the chance to reach their potential in every aspect of their lives. Introducing the standards will not make for overnight change they are something that we will, through the work of the Staffordshire Adult Mental Health Partnership, strive to achieve."
National Lead for Gender Equality at the Department of Health, Karen Newbigging added: "The publication of the Public Sector Gender Duty in April next year will place and obligation on all Mental Health Trusts to ensure that the needs of women are appropriately met. Staffordshire Adult Mental Health NSF Partnership, in publishing these standards, have anticipated this duty and have made a clear step forward in mainstreaming women's mental health. I welcome the publication of these standards as an example of positive practice and will be actively supporting their dissemination so that other Mental Health Trusts can take advantage of the hard work that has gone into developing them."
