“Is anyone listening?” By Karen Boulton
Connecting with the Festival’s eclectic line up of musical artists, this is a piece of work by Karen Boulton, which will make use of the large front windows of the AirSpace Gallery in Broad Street. The piece presents the viewer or indeed the passerby with the question ‘is anyone listening?’ through a digital readout. The work is based on the messages that we send and receive everyday of our lives, we are available 24/7, it looks at our reactions to silences within noisy environments and the failure of theses multiple communication systems. We communicate so much to so many but we quite often feel that no one is listening to us.
