Tim Burton directs Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in his extremely gory and bloody adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, telling the infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Todd. The eponymous barber returns to London with vengeance on his mind, providing the ingredients for his neighbour Mrs Lovett's pies, which once unpleasantly tasteless, become the toast of the town. Burton's trademark gothic mise en scène complements this darkly comic tale carried by the music and lyrics of Stephen Sonheim.
